The 4AM Conspiracy
July 20, 2007
Rives is a charming spoken-word artist whom I had the chance to befriend before I spoke at Taste3 this year. He’s got a true gift for speaking to an audience, as you can tell in this clip from TED Talks about the conspiracy that takes place at 4AM. He performed this piece at Taste3 as well, which is where i first saw it.
Still no word on whether Gwen Stefani has weighed in on the conspiracy.

TED sorta bums me out. The talks I've seen from the previous years have been world leaders talking about urgent problems; in this one, we have comedy and even Hans Rosling is using his time to show off swallowing swords.
I noticed you posted this at 9 am. 9 looks Suspiciously like 4. Coincidence? No, it's creepy.
You know Rives? I've had the opportunity to see him perform a few times (I'm a spoken word junkie: he actually incorporated a spoken word piece of mine into a performance once and I was ecstatic) and I had no clue he had spoken at TED.
Thanks for this link, hope you don't mind if I share this with my friends here in the spoken word scene in Toronto.
Actually, in all seriousness, I wrote this at about a quarter to 4am and just scheduled it to post when it did. The conspiracy continues!
