Voyager's 55 Languages
December 10, 2004
The Voyager spacecraft had their famous galactic greetings on board, with the map offering detailed instructions for any aliens who wanted to invade Earth, the drawing of a naked man and woman designed to make me giggle when I saw it depicted in my fifth grade science textbook, and the shiny golden record containing greetings from around the world.

You mean to say that English isn't your first language? Wow. If so, your written English is very good for a non-native speaker.
Eh, it's only a technicality. I'm an English speaker who grew up in a bilingual house and just had the luck to have my first word in Oriya. So I milk it for all it's worth.
I saw a replicate of the disc/record my second day at work (JPL). It was exhilirating just thinking that this little object, which conveys so much information, is drifting on the lonely Voyager. What's cool is that there was a guide right next to the record that explained each diagram (all signify the relationship of the Earth to our the solar system, galaxy, etc). Voyager was also packing a bunch of images that show important things about our race as well: from a picture of a young baby to a snapshot of the Taj Mahal.
