Netflix Friends
As the wags are fond of saying, and Flickr is fond of demonstrating, social networking is a feature, not an application. Thus, Netflix Friends. That's actually pretty useful. Thanks to Hacking Netflix for the link.

Now, if only Orkut (or whatever the popular social network app is nowadays; I've stopped paying attention) could develop an API that would interface with the Flickr and Netflix API, we'd really have something. I'd love to have social networking built into ecommerce sites (Amazon, iTunes Music Store, etc.) or even travel sites ("Delta has a deal on tickets to San Francisco, where your friend Anil lives!") but I don't want to have to establish my relationships for each site. Why reinvent the wheel?
Could this be as simple as Orkut automatically generating a FOAF file, in the same way MT automatically generates RSS?
