I'll pay $100 to the first person who figures out how to make SubEthaEdit (worst name ever! I still call it Hydra) and OneNote service pack's document-editing capabilities connect to each other.

Both allow multiple users to edit the same document, and both connect easily across a network, though they've got different areas of focus. And both are pretty great little apps that ought to connect together. Though Word has note-taking features in the new Office 2004 for the Mac, I suspect the MBU's distance from the Office group that's doing OneNote on Windows will mean that it's going to be a long time until note-sharing on the two platforms works well in Office.

Dude, I don't believe there is a standard out there for MEDs (Multiple Editor Documents) (heh, I just made up a name!). It is like trying to connect AIM to MSN Messenger. You need a program like Adium to handle them all, because there is no one IM standard (unlike how there are now Web Standards).

Sad, really, it would be great if there was an open source standard. Maybe the SubEthaEdit people should put out a paper or something on the matter... eh?

I think "OneNote service pack" narrowly edges out SubEthaEdit for worst name ever, but point taken. I still say "Hydra" too.

good god that is the worse name ever. i'm still calling it Hydra. All this talk about hitchhiking around galaxies don't mean anything to anybody. who cares. haven't heard of OneNote. But love "hydra" - perhaps I'll look into it!!! good luck on your move, Anil!
