A while back, Gillette released the M3Power Razor, a motorized razor based on their fan-favorite Mach 3. Now, as many of you may recall, I care about razors. I'd seen a TV show a while back explaining how to optimize the shaving razor, and it explained one key element to optimal shaving that's still missing: motion. Though Gilette had blown through a billion bucks on the product line thus far, it seemed a glaring oversight.

But no longer. They've got millions of razors deployed, all motorized , and the AAA battery is included. (Why just give charge for the blades when you can charge for the blades and batteries?) You know where I'm going with this, though. There's a huge market for plausible deniability vibrators here. Just add an alternate tip that plugs into the razor end, or a cover for the blunt end, and voila. Shy people, or travellers, or those who live in states where such masturbatory paraphernalia are prohibited, would be liberated from their sexual oppression.

I figure you could sell the "massager" tips for the Mach 3 for about five bucks. If you make a million dollars, buy me something nice.

I've used all sorts of razors: one-, two- and three-bladed razors, including Gillette's Mach 3. Frankly, I've found no appreciable difference between the shave I get with a super-expensive razor and my ancient Trac II. I won't even try the battery-powered Mach 3, as I think that's just ridiculous.

When it all comes down to it, I don't see how more blades or a vibrating head really help; for me, it's all in HOW you shave. If I shave an area of my face and there's a little stubble left--which rarely, if ever, happens--I go over it again. Selling razors on the "fewer strokes" line is silly; am I really so pressed for time that I can't stand to spend even one half-second giving that spot another stroke?

It all comes down to price for me, so I've gone back to my old Trac II, whose blades are considerably cheaper than that of the Mach 3. I see Schick has a four-bladed razor now; who'd have guessed that razors would be a huge industry, approaching fetishism?

Well, the razor-as-vibrator thing is nothing new. Phillips' electric shavers for ladies, at one point (I haven't looked since '93), let you push a button and flip the bladey bit off completely; then you'd have a little curved base, with two plastic prongs that the bladey bit would slot into, and that was what vibrated the blades and caused the shaving to occur. The base and prongs were about the right size for girl bits. No batteries, no bits to replace.
