I was counting the Google Account stuff (used to log in to the developer contest, Gmail, and other stuff) as the first vestiges of My Google.

Even if you take those pieces out, it's still a remarkable advancement from "we only do search".

]]> 2004-05-17T19:56:58Z tag:www.dashes.com,2004:/anil//1.1765-comment:3524 Comment from margaret on 2004-05-17 margaret this is actually one of the (many) reasons i prefer google to yahoo. when i go to the google main page, i know what to do with it. there's a big box i use to search (placed helpfully right in the middle, making it easier for me to use google's main function), a few helpful links for news or image search, helpfully placed links for learning more about google... you get the idea. the yahoo main page is such a mass of links and random information that i would literally have to learn how to use it- it would take me time to figure out how to use it effectively. google doesn't have this learning time, which is one reason i like it better.
