Gen on Seal

Gen's got a nice link and backgrounder on Seal's impending new release. In typical Seal fashion, I've seen a good bit of promotion for the song, but haven't heard it yet. I'd figured him for commerically dead when the Worst Batman Movie Ever resuscitated him, so I suppose it's possible he'll get sent back up the charts by that invisible but lucrative Sade/Annie Lennox audience.

As a visible member of that Sade/Annie Lennox audience, may I also point you to a Dan Aquilante piece from the NY Post yesterday. (Blech, they've already put it behind the evil curtain).

The new Seal is pretty good, actually. The wife is pretty into his old stuff, while I wasn't feeling most of it. The new album I like more, but something makes me feel weird about that as I realize it seems a lot more manufacturerd and less heartfelt. Maybe all that inescapable Justin Timberlake/Timbaland stuff caused lasting damage over the summer.

I'm also trying to get into Ben Harper, because he seems honest, hardworking, and overall talented--but I can't seem to get into the music quite yet. Oh wait, I'll go write about this on *my* blog I suppose :-)
