I am really, truly, inordinately excited about the fact that I'm going to see Justin Timberlake perform this week, especially since it's not the crappy arena tour with Aguilera, but one of the live club gigs he does with a real band. I think all the nay-sayers would be surprised with how good that JT album is. "Like I Love You" is the single of the year!

I dunno, I'd still pick "Cry Me A River" over LILY, but the reality is, the album is solid almost the whole way through. As far as post-boy band first efforts go, it's easily as solid as "Off the Wall".

He very, very serious. The surprising part is that he's right; the Timberlake album is immaculately constructed, complex, and well-written pop music.

The collective Trott appreciates TImberlake as well and actually would have really liked to be able to go to this show.

I was reluctant to listen to this album but Cry Me A River won me over. Anil's a good advocate for pure pop. Believe me, you haven't lived until you've been in a 2 hour car ride with a four track CD looping two versions of Cry Me A River, Destiny's Child Survivor and Nikolai Nolan's Designer.

Jeebus... I'm going to lose any pretention of having indie cred here...the J.Timberlake album doesn't suck. I'm sorry that's as much of a compliment as I can pay the man. I just wish he would own up to pulling his dance moves from MJ.

Plus, The Neptunes could make a beat so bumpin' Anil could sing over it and sound good. You just can't go wrong with N.E.R.D. at the helm.

The thing is, everyone wants to credit the Neptunes or Timbaland for Justin's success, but the reality is that JT had much more of a hand in it than anyone wants to admit. A better articulation of this idea was in Slate a few days ago.

I think Justified was easily the best pop album of last year.

I'm finally going to see Justin in concert in January. A long time to wait since I've been a fan since 1996! It was murder getting tickets, he's huge over here.

Justin was attacked by bottles when he opened for the rolling stones.

Hopefully, future concerts will be just as successful.

He's awful and manufactured. But sometimes crap sales.

Wait 5 years until the were are justin specials come out. Can't wait.

I really dislike Justin Timberlake as a person (that is, the way he presents himself - and is presented - in public, obviously I don't know him personally), but I must admit I like his last two hits.

Dan, I'm sure you'll hate Justin in 5 years, and remember him fondly in 30, just like all other people who sneer at pop music. Considering those asshole fans threw water bottles at him while working a charity concert, I think you'd be in pretty low company siding with them, especially considering how maturely JT dealt with the reaction.

Alright, after reconsideration, and out of respect for Mr Dash and the Collective Trott, amongst other trustworthy people, I am prepared to give the album a chance. I won't be puttng up any posters, but I will listen to it.

And kids, throwing bottles is not nice.
