Intro to Business Blogs

June 12, 2003

If you're in New York City and you've got time tonight, please do come by and check out the Ecommerce SIG's panel discussion on "Intro to Business Blogs". We've got a great roster of speakers, it's easy to get to at IBM's midtown offices, and we're hoping to have some real, useful information about weblogs for businesses. No philosophical debates, just practical implementation details, examples of people using the technology, and a good chance to network.

"no philosophical debates"...that's funny. I was at the Jupiter conference in Boston :-)

Interesting about the no-philosophical-debates idea because the first thing on the list is What Is A Weblog? Slippin down the slope!

Also by saying there will be no philosophical debates, you just started a philosophical debate. ;->

It's really interesting how that works. When someone says let's not be religious, you can be sure of one thing, he or she is being religious, right then and there.

Remember Dale Bumpers' speech in defense of Bill Clinton during the impeachment. He quoted HL Mencken. I'll go see if I can dig it up. Back in a minute.

Dale Bumpers: "H.L. Mencken said one time, 'When you hear somebody say, This is not about money,' it's about money.' And when you hear somebody say, 'This is not about sex,' it's about sex."

Of course it was all in the delivery. Bumpers is one of the best orators of our time. He engaged in philosophical debates all the time, and you could tell he enjoyed them.

Have a nice day.

Curses! A blogging symposium held at my own workplace--a company me and some other IBM'ers have been trying to get blogging for a year now on our intranet portal, w3, with no luck so far--and I miss it.

Bah. Will go sulk now.
