Tivo and Amazon, sitting in a tree...
December 2, 2002
So, who's got the plugin that makes Tivo spit out a list of favorites to Amazon's web service in order to make suggestions?

Even better. A script for an iBook that runs whilst pawing through the latest Rick Moody fetish object during a WiFi porn-firehosing session down at Starbucks. Using ViaVoice or some speech recognition software and the internal mic, the script would perk up whenever anyone nearby spoke approvingly of your display of reading acumen: 'Oh look, he's reading such-and-such, how I want to bonk him'.
This data could be collated with approving glances gathered by a QuickCam of whatever audio purchase is half-peeking out of a shopping bag as one walks down the street, then sent via an XML feed directly into the mind of Dave Winer.
Well it's not quite at the point of importing from Tivo (but might be fun to try). See: my company's bookmarklet which connects to Amazon's web services - we're working on adding features to it - perhaps we should look at a mass import of search terms as one such feature?
Are you talking about basing product suggestions off of your season pass list or off of your ratings for various shows and genres? I can envision in my head how it might be possible script-wise, but I doubt that the results would be all that useful... (other than suggesting that you buy the latest STAR TREK novelization because you have a season pass for ENTERPRISE, etc...)
My doubts on BLOGS AS SOURCES OF INFO
But sometimes official AND FORMAL weblogs THOSE THAT ARE TRUSTED do become misleading dont they - Atleast, its very much possible . . . May not be from geniune and enthusiastic bloggers like you and me
